Rainy days & Autumn.....

I love a backroad,
right after a rain
when Autumn is saying
"I'm here, I came"..
Little whispers of wind saying
"I, can turn green into Gold
with beautiful Ambers and Scarlets to hold".
I love A back road, all shinny and wet
saying "summer is leaving"
( but she's still not gone yet).
i admit that she's fading,
she's fading fast
but all seasons change
her beauty won't last.
once trees are naked,
and leaves carpet the ground
Jack frost and the old man
Of Winter parties down....

Goodbye Old House...

Goodbye old house, you’ve been a friend

But Our time together, has come to a end

For 22 years, you’ve seen children grown

their time and laughter will stay in this home.

You kept us safe and you kept us warm

Four Grand Sons, you saw born..

they laughed and played, felt safe in your walls

running and jumping on steps in the halls..

For 22 summers and winters you’ve been

where Grandma and grandpa, spent their time with them.

22 years it seems a long time ago

so quickly they passed by, ( where did time go?)

But it was never a house of our own

we just rented, the house we called home.

Now it’s come time, for a new place to stay

and where we are going, seems so far away.

But we will remember this house and her walls

and all the neighbors and friends who made calls..

It wasn’t a “great house”, nothing fancy by means

Just a shell of a old house, that held all our dreams..

To say i won’t miss her, would be a big lie

She holds lots of memories, of time passing by.

I leave her feeling thankful, for the years that I’ve been

walking through her doors, glad to be home again.

And if we’re lucky, we’ll be just as safe and secure,

In the new house we’ll call home, just like we did her.

So goodbye old house, remember us well

We’ve started new ventures, new stories to tell.

but you’ll always be part of, our lives till the end

you’ve been a blessing, a good trusted friend.

amen

In memory of our home we moved out of a month ago today….goodbye old house.

4 Loving Daughters....

There's four loving daughters
who treasure their mom
Eight loving hands that
keep her safe from harm.
4o gentle fingers
doing chorse one by one.
4 loving daughters
do all that needs done.
Day after day
year after year
not a moment goes by
without one of them near.
through good days and bad days
they keep on keeping on
them four loving daughters
who treasure their mom...

this poem was written for the Hatem Sisters..Lisa, Patty, Pam, and Angie, who has faithfully cared for their Mothers every need 24 hours a day for 5 years .

The Truly Loved Farm...

As I sat on a ridge
overlooking a hill
i could see a old farm
sitting idle and still...
she seemed so inviting
in all her silent charm
And looked like a picture
Of a truly loved farm...
I wondered the story
of where people had gone
and why it sat empty
while holding such charm..
Lonesome and abandoned
she stood All silent and still
and winds sang and danced for
The old farm on the hill...
Someone still loves her
and tends to her needs
for she is all tidy
her lawn has no weeds..
her roof has a pattern
that gives her real flair
and she has a guest house
there so much that is there..
It's a gift from nature
a view with real charm
when i see the picture
of a truly loved farm...

we could buy at the store
I'd by me a bottle
(a case maybe more)
i'd use it in coffee
make tea in the sun
and share little sips
with this world one by one.
i'd tell them its tasty
just try a small cup
and hand out free bottles
to drink it all up..
But peace isn't something
in bottles to find..
( though it's still a good thought
to have come to mind)..

Abandoned Beauty...

Standing in the old church
where the preacher
stood on Sundays
Still haunts me..
I watched as leaves
danced across the floor
on the winter winds
and snow lay frozen
below open windows
as if it gently fell
into it's place...
the light shinning
through the wallls
seemed to be
impatiently wanting
to touch the darkness..
creating shadows.
Her time is fading...
But i found Her Beauty
she could not hide it..

off a gravel road
down a 2 mile lane..
she stands idle..
broken and worn
rusted and sad
she struggles to stand..
her time
on earth
is fading...
Her windows
once held
shinny glass...
And her doors
opened to warmth
and smells
of fresh baked bread..
her sidewalk
long ago
hid benieth the grass...
her memories
are many...
she speeks
but only the wind
can hear her voice..
tree branch's seem
to hold her gently
as if to protect
her dying frame...

Finding Grace....

Finding Grace....
Originally uploaded by Backroad Drifter
One night i had a dream where I
Sat high upon a distant hill
All alone and far from home
the wind was calm and still...
As i looked up to the sky
beams of light came down
and for awhile, Natures smile
danced for me, all around..
I felt a need to talk to God
And ask him where to find
My way in life - so full of strife
Weighing heavy on my mind..
Then Suddenly within the light
breaking through the sky above
I could hear a silent voice
that seemed so full of love.
Saying
"be paitent child, i hear the prayers
that come from everywhere
Im close at hand, please understand
For this world I truly care"
then a dark cloud came & i felt rain
like tears upon my face...
and the voice became much louder as
it said " this world's in need of Grace"..
I asked the silent voice to tell me why
Oh why he did not sow
grace within a world of souls
Planted faithfully to grow..
The voice became a whisper as
loud thunder roared above..
"Man is born with a free will
And faith is taught through love..
Grace is not something that
can be born in everyone..
for if I could i surely would
but that's not how it's done"..
as the rain clouds moved away
letting the light back through
i heard a final whisper say
"I've seen Grace in You"...
Since i Awoke from that dream
I've felt a peace within my mind
and each day i take time to pray
it will spread throughout mankind..
one by one, two by two
together we can be
a world that's full of peaceful souls
spreading Grace abundantly...

If I could
I'd bring our soldiers home..
i would bring them safe and sound
home again on American ground
If i could

If i could
I'd make this world free
If i could
I'd make this world free
no cold and hungry children
no pain or poverty...
if i could
I'd make this world free.

If i could
i'd bring or soldiers home
if i could
i'd bring our soldiers home
I'd bring them safe and sound
Home again, on American ground
If i could
i'd bring our soldiers home..

If i could
i'd change nine one one
if i could
I'd change nine one one
I'd give anything to change
the damage that's been done
if i could
I'd change nine one one...

If i could
i'd bring our soldiers home
If i could
I'd bring our soldiers home
I'd bring them all safe and sound
home on American ground
If i could
i'd bring our soldiers home
if i could
i'd bring our soldiers home

The Butterfly Dance...

The Butterfly Dance...
I'm sure we've all been
a wittness by chance..
To a butterfly doing
a Butterfly dance..
from flower to flower
they zip and they zoom
Tasting each flower
landing on every bloom..
they seem to be moving
to the sound of the wind
Dancing out summer
and dancing fall in
